Meeting with the Surgeon

Today we met with Elijah's surgeon at Children's Mercy. We are blessed to feel very comfortable with him! He seems to truly think through decisions for our boy....plus, he asked Silas to write out some algebra problems for him to solve which definitely earned some brownie points! :) At this point, they are still unsure if Eli's mass is both in the lung and under it, or only under it. The mass is fed by an artery beneath the diaphragm and his lung will need to be collapsed for the surgery. All these factors mean that it is best to wait until he is as big and strong as possible to perform the surgery, which will hopefully be between 6 and 9 months old. Eli still doesn't cry for real hardly ever, usually has to be woken up to eat, and is generally more fatigued and weak than normal. We have to be extra careful with him so he isn't exposed to too many germs, as a respiratory illness could be very dangerous for him. Overall, we will keep a close eye on him and reevaluate if the need arises. We feel well taken care of at Children's Mercy and are praising God for His continued blessing and providence. What a special, precious little boy He has given us. Praise Him!

Here we go!
